Diary of a Dream

We've packed up our hectic life in downtown Toronto and moved our family to the tiny town of Mal Pais, Costa Rica. Come along for the ride and read about our adventures as we trade the cold and snow for the sun and surf on the Pacific Coast. Not quite "The Simple Life", but we are bracing for the inevitable bumps of turning a dream into reality. I've switched things around a bit, the newest posts are first and wind back to the very first entry, How the Dream Started.

about us

Avery, Steve, Riley, Eva and Paulie Pocket
I've had a rich and rewarding career in journalism, just wrapping up four years as host of Health on the Line, an Alliance Atlantis production that won two Gemini awards for Best Talk Show in Canada. *************** Steve Essam is one of Toronto's top Set Decorators, working on most of the major films that roll into Toronto aka Hollywood North. He also has a side job of gutting and renovating old homes. ************** Riley is our 11 year old son who inspires us with his fearless acceptance of leaving all his friends and community and trying out a new life in The Rica. ************ Eva is our 5 and a half year old daughter who is equally excited but a little more nervous about what may be in store for us. ************* And Paulie is our 2 and a half year on son (aka Pocket) who says, on average, three times a day "We're goin'a Coshta Rica, we're goin'a coshta Rica. He'll be teaching us spanish in no time!
